Medication Brochure Purpose: The purpose of this assignment is for students to teach their clients/patients/family members about new medications in a manner that the patient/client/family members can understand. You will be given a drug to research and will be responsible for teaching your client/patient/family on the selected drug prior to the patients discharge. Your goal is to create a drug brochure that is comprehensive, yet simple to understand. It will be used as a teaching tool for your audience that they can keep and refer to during the patients recovery. Drug Brochure should be formatted as a brochure that would be given to a real patient. The contents of the brochure should also be included on PowerPoint slides for ease of presenting the material for review of accuracy. Your brochure MUST include the following points: Generic name, trade name Classification of drug Mechanism of action Indication (specific for patient) Ordered route/dose/frequency etc. Therapeutic effects Adverse/side effects Contraindications Monitoring, nursing interventions Learning points for the patient/family/client Be sure to refer to the Brochure Rubric included in the syllabus, and include a copy with your assignment submission.
