Assignment Summary
This self-assessment paper requires me to reflect on my personal results from the required assessments and connect them to key concepts from Organizational Behavior: Emerging Knowledge. Global Reality (10th Edition) by Steven L. McShane and Mary Ann Von Glinow. The goal is to demonstrate self-awareness by interpreting and critically evaluating what my results reveal about my personality, values, and behavior in organizational settings, rather than simply describing the scores.
Using the Big Five Personality Test (mandatory) and two additional assessments, I will analyze how my individual characteristics relate to organizational behavior theories, such as personality frameworks, perception, and locus of control. The paper will integrate concepts from the core chapters of the textbook to explain how these traits may influence my interactions, decision-making, motivation, and effectiveness in teams or workplaces.
Specific instructions and requirements are outlined below, along with my individual responses and reflections from each assessment.MUST USE: Core Chapters from the Required Textbook
For this paper, key concepts should be drawn from the required course textbook, Organizational Behavior: Emerging Knowledge. Global Reality (10th Edition) by Steven L. McShane and Mary Ann Von Glinow. The following chapters are especially important because they provide the theoretical foundation needed to interpret and connect self-assessment results to organizational behavior concepts.
Chapter 1 Introduction to Organizational Behavior
This chapter explains the importance of self-awareness in understanding behavior within organizations and introduces the foundational theories and frameworks of organizational behavior. It is particularly useful for framing the introduction and establishing why reflecting on personal characteristics is relevant to the study of organizational behavior.
Chapter 2 Individual Behavior, Personality, and Values (most essential)
This chapter covers major personality frameworks, including the Big Five personality traits, as well as concepts such as individualism versus collectivism, power distance, personal values, and cultural influences. It provides the primary theoretical basis for analyzing personality-related self-assessment results.
Chapter 3 Perceiving Ourselves and Others in Organizations
This chapter focuses on self-concept, self-awareness, attribution processes, perceptual biases, and locus of control. It is critical for interpreting how individuals understand themselves and others, and for explaining the psychological mechanisms underlying self-assessment outcomes.
