Major Project #1 – Fitness Journal Article

Assignment Overview

Write a 3-page article suitable for publication in the American Council on Exercise (ACE) journal. This article should focus on an exercise science topic relevant to the general adult population and be grounded in evidence-based practices rooted in scientific research. You may not select a topic about or related to a special population (ex. obesity, diabetes, hypertension, etc.)

Assignment Requirements

  • Length: 3 pages, double-spaced (not including references, tables, charts, etc.)
  • Format: Times New Roman, size 12, 1″ margins, double-spaced, APA style
  • Sources: Minimum 5 sources with at least 2 peer-reviewed sources published within the last 10 years
  • Audience: General adult population with interest in fitness and health – 4th-6th grade reading level
  • Topic: Exercise science topic that aligns with ACSM EP-C competencies that was already approved in the topic selection step of this project
  • Broadly, your paper needs to cover:
  • What is the topic?
  • Why is it important to a general adult interested in exercise, health or fitness?
  • What is your recommendation for an action they should take?
  • How do they take action?
  • What is the expected outcome?
  • Examples from ACE:
  • Additional Elements: Must include at least two visuals (tables, charts, or figures as appropriate) placed in text in an appropriate location (page count is accommodating for visuals – If your visuals take up a 1/2 page then you can go a 1/2 page over the limit.

I have the references as well if you could use them, that would be great. I also need two tables or charts from any of the peer-reviewed articles I am providing here:
