Selecting an Organization

Explore news/current events to locate a business that has a complex problem that needs to be addressed. The problem may relate to any business topic (e.g., accounting, marketing, legal).

You are free to choose any company for the case; however, you are strongly encouraged to choose a publicly held company that is listed on a major stock exchange in the U.S. so that adequate information may be obtained for the case analysis.

As you select an organizational problem for your class project, you must select an organization that is interesting and possibly useful to you in your career, industry, or interests. An organization or industry you are interested in should give you better access to information.

Use the 9-step case analysis process as a guide:

1. Skim the case to get an overview of the situation.

2. Read the case thoroughly to digest the facts.

3. Carefully review the information in the exhibits.

4. Decide what the strategic issues are.

5. Begin your analysis with some number crunching.

6. Apply the concepts of strategic analysis.

7. Check out conflicting opinions

8. Support your opinions with reasons and evidence.

9. Develop recommendations and an action plan.

Your final submission should reflect deep analysis, integration of course concepts, and proper APA formatting. Use the outline below to structure your paper. This report must be double-spaced, use 12-pt Times New Roman font, and follow APA (7th edition) guidelines for citations and references.
