Chapters 19–36 of your text discuss many Macroeconomic topics. Your assignment is to find at least 6 current articles from different sources that discuss the following topics, not all in one article:

GDP

Growth

Unemployment

Inflation

Fiscal Policy–Taxes and Spending

Deficits

Federal Reserve

Monetary Policy

International Issues

When one listens to the news, reads articles, and hears what concerns people most both in the US and around the world, it is the looming threat of tariffs and the uncertainty of how they will impact not only the USA economy but the economies of the entire world. The other hot topic is the budget that has been passed by the House and is now working its way to the Senate. As much as both parties express a concern for our national debt, this budget which has significant tax cuts included will balloon our debt. I would like you to think how all of these individual topics listed above are linked to Inflation. As you are reading think about what are the mechanisms to control Inflation, what are the potential risks and rewards, who actually can control these levers and when we had inflationary times in the past what happened. What, if anything, did we learn from history.

Two of the articles must focus on Fiscal policy, one on taxes and the other on spending. You will find that many of these topics are very interrelated so an article may discuss more than one topic. But, I want you to find at least 6 different articles. The articles must discuss the US economy, not the economy of another country and must be very recent (last week or so).

Your assignment is to analyze, not just summarize, these articles in two total pages and make sure to include your references. The goal of this assignment is for you to learn more about Macroeconomics and become much more aware of how all of these topics that are in the news every day. I will have a link for you to post your analysis and a separate link for you to comment on the analyses of 3 of your fellow students.
