Choose one of the classroom-based assessments presented on pp. 134-141 of Assessing Language and Literacy with Bilingual Students.
Students should answer the following prompts:
- Explain the purpose of this assessment and describe the data collected. How would you use this data in instruction?
- What is the role of academic language in this assessment? What considerations or modifications might be necessary for multilingual learners to demonstrate proficiency with academic language?
- How is this assessment responsive to multilingual learners? How can students themselves and families partner in this assessment?
