Task:
High-leverage practices (HLPs) in special education have been developed to help provide guidance and support to educators who work with students with disabilities. These practices have been determined to be highly effective and critical to the success of students with disabilities when successfully implemented. The goal of the HLP assignments in this course is to introduce you to these practices through exploration of research that aims to improve student outcomes in special education. In this assignment, your topic is High-Leverage Practices in Instruction. You may create a poster, develop a “Padlet” or record a screen/podcast discussion or presentation of evidence based practices in instruction.

- Content Expectations: Create a powerpoint
- Introduction: Introduce yourself, your article/ topic, and why you chose it

- Include an APA formatted reference list on your Padlet. State the name of your article in a recording. If you create a poster include APA formatted references at the bottom of your poster.
- Writing and Formatting Expectations:
- Title: Submission must include a title with the following: Title of article or topic and Students name (an audio recording includes an audio title page).
- Professional language/voice: Speak professionally, yet personably. It is okay to use “I, me, my” especially in the text to self connections.
- Purpose and Organization: Demonstrates logical progression of ideas.
- Syntax and Mechanics: Writing displays meticulous comprehension and organization of syntax and mechanics, such as spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
- APA Formatting: Assignment is formatted properly and sources are cited and referenced in APA format. (Headings, references). Please include a written outline of talking points if you create a video or audio recording.
Purpose: To introduce you to High Leverage Practices (HLPs) practices in Instruction through research and critical reflection aimed to improve student outcomes in special education.
Evaluation Criteria: You will be scored with a rubric with explicit criteria for ideas, organization, voice, and creativity.
Submission Details: Submit to Canvas as a document, pdf, Padlet link, or video or audio recording.
PLEASE NOTE:
