Each part to be in own document.
Lecture Activity 1: The AI Headliner Portrait
Format: AI Image Generation & Prompt Engineering
- The Task: Use a free AI Image Generator (like Bing Image Creator/Copilot or Adobe Firefly) to create a “Promo Poster” for your Keystone Species.
- The Prompt: Your prompt must include specific biological details. (e.g., “An American Alligator wearing a festival crown, sitting in a South Louisiana swamp with cypress knees and Spanish moss, hyper-realistic, 8k”).
- Submission: Upload your AI-generated portrait and the exact prompt you used to create it.
Lecture Activity 1 Submission: The AI Headliner Portrait & Prompt A digital image of your Keystone species in a festival setting and the text prompt used to generate it.
Part 2: The Catering & The Cleanup Crew (Energy, Water, & Nutrients)
Topics: Energy flow, Food webs, Trophic levels, and Nutrient cycles (DQ2).
Learning Activity 2: The Bayou Catering Menu
Step-by-Step Instructions:
- The Food Web Layout: Review DQ2. Map out a Food Web for your festival. You must include Producers (The Caterers), Consumers (The Guests), and Decomposers (The Cleanup Crew).
- The Energy Budget: Create an Energy Pyramid. Show how only 10% of the energy moves up from the producers to the top predators.
- The Sustainability Audit: Research the Carbon or Nitrogen cycle. Explain how these nutrients are “recycled,” so the party never runs out of supplies.
Submission Format for Part 2: The Bayou Catering Menu (Visual Food Web & Pyramid) A digital “Menu” layout. One side shows the Food Web (who eats whom), and the other side shows the Energy Pyramid (the 10% rule).
Part 3: The Guest List & The Headliner (Ecosystems & Keystone Species)
Topics: Ecosystem components (biotic/abiotic), Keystone species (DQ1).
Learning Activity 1: The Ecosystem Site Map
Step-by-Step Instructions :
- Site Survey: Review DQ1. Identify 5 Biotic factors (living guests) and 5 Abiotic factors (non-living environment) found in a South Louisiana Bayou ecosystem.
- The Headliner Research: Research the American Alligator or the Beaver as a Keystone Species. Explain how they act as the “Headliner” that keeps the rest of the “Guest List” (the community) together.
- Map Design: Create a digital Ecosystem Site Map. Use icons to represent your biotic and abiotic factors and place your Keystone Species at the center of the “Main Stage.”
Submission Format for Part 1: The Ecosystem Site Map (Digital Infographic) A visual map of a bayou ecosystem. You must label the biotic/abiotic factors and provide a 3-sentence “Artist Statement” on why your chosen Keystone Species is the “Headliner” of the yard.
