Hypothetical Event

This event was significant; there was video posted to many social media sites which caught the attention of the traditional media. The video did not capture the entire circumstances of the event (your officers were not yet on the scene, so there is no body-worn video). A group of citizens has asked to have a meeting with your mayor or other local elected officials; emotions are high. The group wants to know what you, as a jurisdiction, will do right away to counter what event happened. Unfortunately, a large portion of the information that is being shared is not verified, so there is a high degree of uncertainty as to correctness. What is your strategy to work with your citizens, and how will you disseminate factual information to members of the media? Will you utilize social media? Will you rely on press releases? You have leeway with this question; you may select the event based on your community, experience, or other sources of knowledge. You may or may not be the Public Information Officer (PIO) for your jurisdiction; in any case, you are the decision maker who will approve any statements that are released
