Assignment Description

Create an annotation or abstract of An annotation is not an essay. It is, for our purposes, a summary of the work that you might be using in the first essay. It is one of the ways to try out some of the skills that you’ll be using in the essay in a way that is low stakes. You can use anything from the annotation in your actual essay.

Requirements

Your annotation should be 250-300 words and should include the following:

1. MLA works cited entry. You can use the to get you started or for the explanation. You are not creating a separate Works Cited page for the annotation, though. Use the formatting from the Sample.
2. Summary of the essay including
3. the main and supporting points of the essay,
4. at least 2 properly cited quotes, (Chapter 3 and the )
5. paraphrase, and
6. analysis of how the points were made.

Some things to note –

• This is not an essay. This is an annotation, so you don’t get an opinion in this type of writing. Try to keep to the summary.
• This is a pretty narrow range of words. I’ve already taken into account a heading and all of the extra little things in the assignment, so just use the word count tool in whatever program you are using. Keep in mind that Google always says you have a few more words than you really do
