Assignment Instructions

This week we are drafting a cover letter and thank you letter. You must use the format in the OCA Careers Handbook which is posted in the folder for this week , stating “cover letters” and ” thank you letters”. Make up a name associated with the agency or department you are writing to. This should be consistent with the type of position you will ultimately be seeking. For example, if your ultimate career goal is as a police officer/detective then the letter would be be sent to someone such as Detective Noah Charles, NYPD , Recruitment Division, One Police Plaza, New York, New York 10007. Or , if you will be seeking a position with the Department of probation, it would read something like, Probation Officer Mary Sykes, NYC Department of Probation, etc. DO NOT ADDRESS IT TO “DEAR SIR OR MADAM”.
