Guided Reflection

Guided reflections give you the chance to pause and think about how your learning connects to real nursing practice. They are designed to help you see the bigger picturehow the skills and values youve built in this course link to the programs overall learning outcomes and prepare you to deliver safe, compassionate, evidence-based care. Each reflection also ties directly to course competencies which serve as the building blocks for your growth as a nurse. By completing this reflection, youll show not only what youve learned but also how youre ready to apply it in your future practice. Purpose The purpose of this reflection is to connect your course learning to the larger goals of the nursing program. It helps you demonstrate how you are meeting program outcomes and practicing essential competencies that prepare you for professional BSN nursing. **NUR 3678 has three (3) End of Program Learning Outcomes (EOPSLO): Choose a minimum of one (1)** EOPSLO #1: Synthesize knowledge from nursing science and liberal studies to apply critical thinking, clinical reasoning, and decision-making skills that improve nursing care of individuals, families, and communities through the life span. Assignment Brief For this learning activity, you will be using various technology and media techniques to develop your guided reflection initial discussion post. You have the choice to complete this assignment in any one of the formats listed below. 1) Create a narrated powerpoint presentation (5 slides minimum and 10 slides maximum, excluding a title page and reference slide, so your presentation will be between 7 – 12 slides in total) 2) OR a short video (between 5 – 7 minutes maximum) using Kaltura, Screen-Cast-O-Matic, etc. Additionally, Microsoft Office is available at no cost through the college, which has powerpoint presentation templates as well. If you choose to record a video instead of a narrated powerpoint, please include a typed outline with APA-formatted references. Be as creative as you like! 3) or a minimum four (4) page written reflection that includes a title and reference page. All submissions must include the following: a) In 1-3 sentences, explain what the identified EOPSLO means to your nursing practice as it pertains to this class. b) Identify and explain three (3) of the course learning outcomes/competencies and how they have contributed to your achievement of the identified EOPSLO in this course. c) Discuss the CORE assignments in this course that have contributed to your professional development as a bachelor’s prepared nurse. *For effective power points, remember this tip of Rule of 6’s – one idea per slide, only 6 bullet points per slide, with no more than 6 words per bullet point. This helps to keep your presentation organized, and concise and your audience interested in what you have to say instead of listening to you read directly from the slide. Submit the Guided Reflection to the designated dropbox by Wednesday, Feb. 25, 11:59pm. Additionally, remember that the EOPSLO information has to come from somewhere, so consider the source and include an in-text citation as well as a reference citation (hint, hint)…..
