Global fashion weeks

For this assignment, you will write and illustrate an 1800 – 2000 word essay.

Your essay should contain appropriate imagery to help you make your case. When you write your essay, we will expect you to make reference to relevant fashion theory or aspects of fashion studies. Essay choice : The Fashion System: The Rise of Fashion Weeks Around the Globe

Research, critically analyse and develop an argument in answer to the following questions:

• How does the celebration of Fashion Week beyond the major capitals of Paris, London, Milan and New York contribute to the diversification of global fashion?
• What more could be done to promote a more diverse concept of fashion in the main fashion capitals?

Discuss and support your analysis with specific examples from Fashion Weeks beyond these major cities.

1. Research this area – it is essential that you include secondary research drawn from literature, journals where possible, and relevant articles or information sourced online. We will be looking for evidence that you have utilised key literature on your topic. Use the research log template to help you.
2. Plan your essay – what is the key focus or angle of your essay? Think about your point-of-view or what we call your developing your argument, this is important as it relates to LO3. This relates to developing your critical thinking skills when evaluating research evidence and developing arguments. Work on the basic structure of your essay. (General Intro/Main Body/Conclusion).

Remember that the word count does not include:

• Image/picture captions
• Reference List
• You must include a Reference list – remember that all references must be cited within the main essay.
• You must include a Picture / Figure list.

Include a cover page that includes: your name and course, the module title, the date of submission, the essay title, and the final word count

Illustrate your essay with relevant images, crediting the source of all images. You should use figure numbers for each image, and every image should have a figure number, title, and source credit.

You must provide a comprehensive alphabetical Reference List of all the sources you have referred to in your essay.

Use the Harvard system to reference all sources used for your essay (this must include correct in-text citations and in the reference list)

Use 1.5 line spacing and a sans-serif font, ensuring text is black and a legible size
