Step 1:
- Select from one of the following case vignette outlined below. I choose the case study for this paper. A male aged (70 years old) married man was admitted to hospital following seizures. He was referred to the hospital social work team by the staff due to his evident self-neglect and concerns of his inability to care for himself.
Step 2:
Craft a real-life scenario building on this vignette. We will call this your case study. The development of this case study will be the focus of your assignment. This includes assigning names to family members and fabricating additional specifics. Students are encouraged to organize their case study into the following headings:
Client Identity (approx 1 page in length)
Potential areas of focus include;
- Ethnic identity
- Gender identity
- Sexual orientation
- Religious diversity and spirituality
- Response to dominant cultural
Belief System- (approx 1-2 pages)
Potential areas of focus include;
- Client Values
- Societal beliefs
Individual and Familial System- (approx 2 pages)
Potential areas of focus include
- Subsystems (family, home, relationships)
- Familial Systems
- Familial interactions and transactions
- Environmental pressures
- Interpersonal processes
- Micro,meso, exos, macro systems impacting the client
- Interconnectedness of systems
Step 3:
Write your case study. Students are encouraged to think as a real-life situation. Do not write using ‘ifs’. The length of this paper is left to the discretion of the submitting student, but it is anticipated that papers will be approximately five to six double-spaced, typed pages in length (in 12-point font with one-inch margins).
