STEP Section 2 – Writing Standards-Based Measurable Objectives
Writing standards-based measurable objectives is crucial for a unit plan because it provides a
clear roadmap of the educational targets the instruction aims to meet. These objectives ensure
that teaching is aligned with academic standards and that student learning can be accurately
assessed. All objectives should clearly state what students will be able to accomplish and how it
will be measured. By setting measurable goals, educators can track student progress and make
informed adjustments to their teaching strategies to improve outcomes.
In
STEP Section 4
, you will plan a unit that is a minimum of 3 days. Prepare to teach this
planned unit in Topic 3 of this course. All unit components should align. For example, the
standards and objectives must align with your pre- and post-assessments.
Do not plan/teach this until you get feedback from both your instructor and your
cooperating teacher/mentor
on your objectives
.
