OBJECTIVE

Students will gain a deeper knowledge and understanding about a topic in First Aid (Epilepsy, Stroke, Diabetes, Burns, Anaphylactic Shock, Heat Exhaustion/Stroke, Drug Overdose, Dislocations, Types of Breaks, etc.)

INSTRUCTIONS

SUBMIT Paper via this Discussion Assignment.

Paper: DUE SUNDAY WEEK 4 11:59pm

• (20 pts) FIRST – At the top of your paper answer the following: Explain how the emergency medical system (EMS) works and the chain of survival that is used in an emergency situation, and the students role as a citizen responder. Please refer to your book and the videos for this.
• (30 pts) SECOND – TYPED paper on a Topic of First Aid (NOT CPR)
• Choose a topic that interests you and EXPAND on it from resources and personal experience (maybe this is why you are in the class)?
• Must be approximately 1-2 pages, double spaced text typewritten, 1″ margins.
• You must have a minimum of 3 resources (your book can be one of them) but please don’t just repeat what we’ve learned in our book
• Accurate information: please provide accurate information as your fellow classmates will be reviewing and learning from you.
• Please use YOUR EXPERIENCE and personalize the paper for us so that we all can learn from you.

GRADING CRITERIA:

(70 pts total – 50 for Initial Post/Paper and 20 for Peer Review)

50pts for Initial Post Discussion/Paper ( 20 for First Part and 20 for Paper)

• Please read a minimum of 4 Peer Papers and Review them BRIEFLY (2-3 sentences) stating the following:
• Did you learn anything from their paper?
• Have you had any past experience on the topic?
• What will you do with the information that they’ve provided?

Half Points for late entries after the already 1 week extension (but if you needed an extension to this date then just ask)!
