For this assignment, you will write a short paper in which you analyze one film screened in class from Module 3: Gender and Activism
In your report on the film, you should clearly display critical thinking about the issues, concerns and approaches to cinematic representation of/in/from Africa. Consider also the complexities of issues explored in the film and how they connect to others on the continent of Africa, and in relation to the rest of the world. How do the issues manifest in contemporary times? Your essay should also include analysis of the aesthetics and materiality of the film. You must also reference the film you are analyzing, apply the theory of representation as introduced in lecture one, and assigned reading materials for the film. You may also refer to other readings you have done.
Tip on making an ‘A’ on this assignment: In addition to all other guidelines and requirements indicated, cite specific scenes in the film to support your analysis, and use concepts from lecture one. Read the assigned article and use it in your essay.
