Purpose:
To practice applying the Family Impact Lens to real-world policies and programs.
Part A: Policy Analysis
Select a local or state law or policy that affects families in your community. Using the
, analyze whether the policy has a positive, neutral, or negative impact on families. Fill out the checklist and submit the file as a part of your assignment. In your analysis:
- Briefly describe the policy
- Identify which families benefit and which may be disadvantaged
- Explain how family structure, resources, or circumstances shape the policys impact
Part B: Community Programs
Using local government or nonprofit websites, identify three programs that intentionally use a family-focused approach.
Local to Me: Cleveland, Ohio
For each program, provide:
- Program name
- Location (city and state)
- A brief explanation of how you know the program uses a family-focused approach
If you cannot locate three programs in your immediate community, expand your search to the state level.
