Experiment 9 – Thermochemistry

General guidance for lab reports CHEM 1411:

• Your lab report must be typed using: font Times New Roman, Size 12, Spacing 1.5. Paragraphs alignment must be justified.
• Label each section of your lab report.
• Use complete sentences and avoid grammar and spelling mistakes.
• Make sure you use subscripts to write chemical formulas. (Do not write C10H22, instead use the subscripts and write C10H22). Structures and reactions can be written by hand or you can write them using a computer program. Avoid copy-paste of structures from the internet (but if you do use images from the internet, please add proper citation).
• You should type your report in impersonal from. The words I or we should not appear in your report.
• Instead of: I measured 10.0 g of salt…. it should read: 10.0 grams of salt were measured….
• Instead of: I saw a change in the color when…. it should read: A change in the color was observed when…
• Pictures: You may add pictures. Make sure you refer to them in your lab report and provide a short description of the picture under each image. It is recommended you label each picture added.
• Tables: Remember to label tables and put them into context. Refer to them in your discussion or conclusion section.
• Before submitting your report, please read it to make sure all sentences make sense.
