Evidence Interpretations Notetakers (Wiesel)

Evidence-Interpretation Notetakers: Template and Instructions

Background:

In your third essay, you will analyze an argument, and essential to such an analysis is looking closely at how a writer (or speaker) uses pathos to appeal to a reader or listener’s emotions and ethos to establish trust and connection with the audience. For this notetaker exercise, use what you have learned in chapters 8 and 9 to analyze the speech’s use of pathos and ethos. *I attached the book*

Note: Find a total of 6 quotes that appeal to ethos or pathos. In other words, you need not find 6 quotes that use the pathos appeal and another 6 that use the ethos appeal, but be sure to find examples of each. If an example uses both appeals, be sure to say so.

Read (and listen to)

Elie Wiesel, “The Perils of Indifference”
