Objective: Critically evaluate the essence of Servant, Adaptive, and Authentic Leadership styles in an organization of your choice. Assess what these styles imply in relation to other approaches when managing multifaceted leadership issues.
Authentic Leadership
- Reflect on Authentic Leadership: Based on Northouse (2022) Chapter 9 on Authentic Leadership, identify and describe the four components of authentic leadership. How can these components help leaders avoid common decision-making errors? Provide a real-life example of an authentic leader who demonstrates these components.
Servant Leadership
- Application of Servant Leadership: Drawing from Northouse (2022) Chapter 10 on Servant Leadership, discuss how the principles of servant leadership can influence decision-making processes in a leadership role. Specifically, how can the focus on serving others help leaders overcome obstacles to effective decision-making? Illustrate your answer with an example from your own experience or a well-known leader.
Adaptive Leadership
- Adaptive Leadership in Practice: Considering the principles of Adaptive Leadership as discussed in “Heifitz, Adaptive Leadership,” analyze a situation where adaptive leadership was necessary to navigate a complex challenge. What decision-making errors were present, and how did the leader(s) adapt to address these errors? What lessons can future leaders learn from this scenario?

- Envisioning Your Leadership Journey:
- Reflect on your personal leadership development goals. Ten years from now, what kind of leader do you aspire to be? How do the concepts of Authentic Leadership and Servant Leadership inform your vision?
- Identify potential decision-making errors or obstacles that could hinder your progress towards becoming the leader you envision. How can the principles of Adaptive Leadership help you overcome these challenges?
