Equity in STEM Essay

In this essay, you will research the status of the medical field and the current challenges regarding diversity and inclusion. In the text, you should address:

1. Current demographics in the field: Consider marginalized identities including race/ethnicity, sex/gender, disability, and sexual orientation, among others. Based on the data, how accessible does this field appear to be? Can you identify areas for improvement? (You may include tables or graphs in this section as needed.)
2. Major factors that influence access and retention within the field: Consider concepts weve discussed such as identity (and their intersections), implicit bias, privilege, and power. What other factors might be relevant? How has systemic racism, sexism, and other types of discrimination shaped the field?
3. Has the field invested in efforts to address diversity and inclusion? If so, what are examples of approaches, programs, or other indicators of success?

Don’t make it too wordy or filled with a lot of jargon. Make it sound like a sophomore undergrad student. It should be written in APA style, 3-4 pages long, font size 12, 1-inch margins, and 1.5 line spacing. Please use the following sources:
