English Question

This essay is a continuation of a previous essay (essay 1) outlining the why the cultural mythos, La Llorona, began circulating. A first draft of the essay is due in 2 days, however this rough draft should be relatively complete and be ready to do revisions after.

The previous essay outlined only the inception of La Llorona, but this essay, essay 3, is arguing why the cultural mythos has continued circulating in a cause and effect essay. A BINS assignment is required at the end of the essay.

Much of the details of the assignment are attached in the files, including assignment prompt and essay 1. Please read essay 1 in depth and use it to help with the essay, you can copy/paste up to 2 pages. The prompt for essay one is also included for reference.

Tips/requirements for writing:

1) Limit the use of deictics as much as possible

2) Sources must be scholarly

3) The assignment MUST NOT be in 5 paragraph structure (we are trying to break this structure of writing which is middle/high school level) so make sure the essay IS NOT, I repeat, IS NOT, something like: (THIS IS AN EXAMPLE OF WHAT NOT TO INCLUDE)

Some critiques to essay 1 that could be done better in essay 3:

-My primary concern in the essay is the visual analysis, which sometimes prioritizes description over rhetorical interpretation and connection to the thesis.

-Looking ahead at Essay 3, I would like to see you continue to work with tighter evidence-to-claim connections and more specific reflection on your writing process.

-The image for essay one was supposed to be the first known image of the cultural mythos, and a more recent one treads into essay 3 territory

Things that were done well to continue doing in essay 3:

-Essay 1 title successful. We know the topic and the purpose for writing the essay.

-Very eloquently funnel us into your thesis beginning with an effective hook that sets up the context beautifully. Great instincts and execution.

-The thesis statement successfully marries all the assignments concepts: it is just as it should be for Essay 1. The most important part of the thesis is that it provides for us the argument as to why the lore began circulating and the audience feels like the author is a reliable narrator to give us information.

-Transitions between essays are good, notable between paragraphs 2-3.

-Works Cited page entries are alphabetized and contain a hanging indent: everything a successful Works Cited page should! Remember to continue double spacing in the Works Cited.
