React to what you have observed in the assigned readings for Module 2. You should react by posting a comment for each of the four numbered topics below. After you have written a comment for each numbered topic, you will write a reply to a post that one of your peers has made about the three numbered topics. Every response or reply you make should be an effectively written paragraph with at least four sentences, so every paragraph you write should include a clear topic sentence and other sentences that provide supporting details.
Once a student has completed this discussion board assignment, they will have produced a total of three paragraphs as well as a Canva or PowerPoint slide presentation. Two of the three paragraphs will each be a response to one of the three numbered topics, and one paragraph will be a reply to another student’s work. Any post made by a student in this discussion forum should be intelligent and thoughtful, regardless of whether you are giving an opinion or a fact. You may be required to upload an illustration (such as a picture, table, or chart) and the written content needed for a particular post.
Feel free to like your peers’ comments. The student who gets the most likes will get three extra points added to their final grade on the first reflection essay assignment, which is due later.
Note: Topics 1 and 2 are worth 25 points each, and Topic 3 is worth 50. Points will be deducted if a post does not address a topic adequately. Moreover, points will be deducted if your writing is ungrammatical and not proofread for errors. Of course, you cannot get credit for a post that has not been made. Five points will be deducted for every grammar and punctuation error and typo.
Although each student will need to submit their own responses, I encourage students to work together to get all the parts of the discussion board assignment completed.
STUDENTS SHOULD AVOID RELYING ON AI TO COMPLETE THEIR WRITTEN DISCUSSION BOARD RESPONSES. IF NECESSARY, REFER TO THE SYLLABUS POLICY ON THE USE OF AI FOR COURSEWORK ACTIVITIES.
You will need to make a reply to Topic 1 first to enter the discussion forum.
After you post a reply/response to the first topic in the discussion board assignment, your responses/replies for all the other numbered topics should go in the thread for each. In other words, there should be one thread for all replies/responses that are addressing Topic 2, there should be one thread for all replies/responses that are addressing Topic 3, and there should be one thread for all replies/responses that are addressing Topic 4. Consistent with this setup, all the replies for Topic 1 would automatically go together.
The beginning of each thread for topics 2-4 can be found easily after you make a reply for Topic 1: Just look for the three spots that have my picture after you make your first post.
In short, if this works out the way it was intended, all the comments for Topic 1 will be together, all the comments for Topic 2 will be together, all the comments for Topic 3 will be together, and all the comments for Topic 4 will be together.
Topic 1. Read the article “Gamified Storytelling: what and how?” by Bowen Sun and think about what the article says about how gamification is used for problem-solving in connection to what we have already learned about how problem-solving is an inherent feature in storytelling. Remember, what motivates the main character/protagonist in a traditional story is a problem or set of problems they have to solve. When applying gamification, we also use incentives and rewards to start or intensify the motivation. For Topic 1, you must respond by citing a scenario from Alice in Wonderland that illustrates this motivation process being brought on by incentives and rewards. In other words, what is an example from the book that shows how the character Alice is rewarded after being incentivized to solve a problem that is a significant conflict for her? Because you are citing from the Alice in Wonderland book, I expect you to include page numbers from that work as part of your answer for Topic 1.
