RESEARCH PAPER General Description: Students will be able to effectively demonstrate an understanding of a concept, apply critical thinking relative to their field of study, and write a research paper that states a thesis and leads to a conclusion. Because of the interdisciplinary scope of this degree, individual research papers vary greatly. The paper should consist of academic research illustrating how you can thoughtfully and professionally synthesize, analyze, and compile information from scholarly sources. It is not merely a collection of facts but a thesis-based, argumentative research paper. The topic should be consistent with your field of study. Based upon what you have learned in your academic career and throughout your life experiences, you will write a seven to ten page paper addressing what you see to be significant risks in your chosen career field for the future of our nation or world from a political, ethical, economic, spiritual, or environmental perspective. Discuss what you see as your role as an individual in mitigating the risks. You must support your opinions with professional references. As the final step in your research paper, you are asked to reflect on the assignment as a learning tool and as a means of presenting your learning in your field of study. Paper Format: Paper Length 7 to 10 pages (this does not include the cover page and reference page) A minimum of 5 professional (peer-reviewed, not magazines) journal articles. Use APA format. Check spelling and grammar! Complete the final portion of the paper entitled Reflections. Check the grading rubric before submitting your paper. NO LATE PAPERS ARE ACCEPTED!!!!!
