Requirements and Deliverables

Individual will identify, analyze and report on a current (ongoing) earthwork operation on a current construction project in the San Diego area.

  • Describe the earthwork operation

First provide an overview of the overall project (project name, location, scope, cost, duration, project participants, etc.)

Describe the earthwork operation in detail, and include the following:

  • The site layout and conditions of the operation (use photos and graphs to present)
  • Soil characteristics and requirements: existing soil, compaction requirements, etc.
  • The quantities of the work to be performed, the operations budget and duration,
  • The activities and steps of the operation
  • The layout and haul roads (indicate distances)
  • The specific type and amount of equipment used, details of equipment costs, (including support equipment) and equipment maintenance plan.
  • The operators and crews used, material needed (e.g. water), etc.
  • Duration of operation and work schedule (work hours, shifts, schedule acceleration, etc.).
  • Safety issues and safety plan
  • Project difficulties and challenges identified/anticipated, etc.
