Submit Case Briefing #1- Strategic Design
at Dynacorp.
Format: 1-2 pages, short essay with a thesis,
answering questions in 3-4 sentences each,
or a chart (must answer all questions).
- If you were on the Dynacorp task force, what would be your first choice for an alternative design (product division, customer division, matrix, front/back, or functional with linking) and why? What would be your second choice?
- Which of the problems of the current design would your chosen design address? (costs, speed and innovation, and/or value for customers) What problems would it not address?
- What linking and alignment mechanisms would you propose to make the grouping of your first choice of design more effective?
The key questions you should ask yourself when reading a case are: What is
going on here? Who are the key actors? What are their interests and roles? What are the core
problems/issue/dilemma/challenges? How does theory from our readings help us to understand what is
going on?
