- Read:
- Shirley Jackson’s “The Lottery” https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/1948/06/26/the-lottery
- Ursula Le Guin “The One’s Who Walk Away from Omelas” (attached)
- Discussion Board:
- These two stories share many points of overlap. Choose one and explore it in your post. The post should compare/contrast that point of overlap showing how it plays out in each story and then drawing conclusions from there. You are also welcome to connect that point of overlap to the “real” world our world and talk about how that theme plays out in our lives, too (if you see it doing so).
- ** Remember: Each post should assert a clear answer to my question in an introduction paragraph and then build body paragraphs that use the texts as support for that answer. Please post your own response and then respond to AT LEAST two posts by other students in the class. These responses can comment on the content of the student response (places where they might add more information) and also on the organization, structure, or style/grammar of the response. These responses aim to help your fellow classmates improve their responses, so please provide as much constructive criticism as possible.
