Discussion Board 6 & 7

The introduction to Part Three, The Human Resource Frame, begins with two quotes illustrating competing views of organizations and the people who work for them, “Our most important asset is our people” and “Organizations exploit people–chew them up and spit them out.”

You are asked to draw on your professional experience to describe a human resource management issue and then analyze and explain it through the lens provided by any of the theories presented in chapters 6, 7, or 8. I would encourage you to use the lens of two or more theories if appropriate. These theories (and their accompanying models and/or descriptions) provide the theory’s specific viewpoint to analyze and explain your example.

Remember that you are an independent researcher describing a human resource issue and then applying one or more theories and models to analyze and explain it. The selected human resource issue can be straightforward and not complex or complicated. You are encouraged to include what went well or what fell short, but the assignment is about applying the theories and models and not making a normative judgment (it was “good” or it was “bad”) of your selected issue. You are asked to describe, analyze, and explain your reasoning.
