Discussion Week 1
Patient safety is paramount in healthcare, and it’s influenced by various factors, including clinical safety concepts, quality management principles, and leadership roles. Drawing from recommendations by key organizations leading patient safety movements, such as those in the United States and abroad:
- Discuss how integrating clinical safety concepts can improve both nurse and patient outcomes. Share examples from your experiences or research.
- Apply the six steps of the quality improvement process to a clinical scenario of your choice. Highlight the importance of each step in enhancing quality and safety.
- In the context of creating a culture of quality and safety, explore the roles of leaders, managers, and followers. How can each contribute to fostering this culture within healthcare organizations?
- Championing diversity, equity, and inclusion is crucial in impacting quality and safety initiatives. Share strategies or initiatives that promote diversity and inclusion in healthcare settings and explain how these contribute to improved patient safety.
