Discussions should address the following components:

Chapter 17 focuses on your own Self-Awareness, and awareness of others when relating to interpretation, empathy, additive empathy, and confrontation.

• Demonstrate what it means to engage in ethical ways that keep the relationship intact when practicing interpretation, empathy, additive empathy, and confrontation.

Chapter 10 focuses on the dimensions used to assess families. It provides a framework for family assessment that is consistent with family-based evidence-based practices.

• In the role of the social worker, demonstrate what interpersonal facilitative and communication skills are needed during the assessment phase? What strengths assessment tool(s) would you develop or utilize to assess a family (For example, dealing with children under six who are left unsupervised for several hours)?
