Deportation Dilemma

A proposal is a persuasive document pitching an idea (in this case, you are trying to convince me that you have a good idea for your research paper). In academia, people write proposals for research papers, conference presentations, articles, and books, allowing the audience (usually an editor or professor) to gauge the appropriateness of an idea and offer feedback. In the professional world, proposals allow a client or supervisor to evaluate a possible idea. In this assignment, you will write a short proposal for your research topic idea. Your proposal should include the following elements:

Summary: An overview of the proposed topic including key terms, necessary context, and the conversation around the topic. Why does the topic matter? How is it complex enough to sustain a full length essay (remember that the final version of this will be 8 pages long).

Research Questions and Key Words: List 3-4 well-developed possible research questions. You should also include keywords or phrases to be used when you search for peer-reviewed scholarly sources.

The proposal should be how deportation affects family and the economy.

GRADING CRITERIA:

Does the writer include a clear description of the intended topic including context and the

conversation surrounding it? Does the writer explain why the topic matters? (25 points)

Does the writer indicate enough complexity for a full length essay to sustain itself? (25

points)

Does the writer include 3-4 well-developed research questions, keywords, or phrases? (25

points)

Is the proposal formally written using appropriate academic language, tone, and formatting?

Are sources cited correctly in a works cited page? (25 points)

Does the writer include a link to a version of the essay with a full document history as a

safeguard against AI usage? (No associated points. Essay will receive a zero until a link is

submitted.
