The capstone exercise will involve a mock hearing of the Senate Armed Services Committee (SASC) (including both the cybersecurity subcommittee and the emerging threats and capabilities subcommittee). In preparation for this exercise, each student will complete a one-page professional quality information/briefing paper for a Senator to prepare and use for questioning a DoW official on issues involving the Departments cyber and information operations and related laws and policies. The information paper must contain at least five researched questions to pose to the DoW official as well as any background or supporting information on the posed questions/concerns. Students will be graded on the quality of the questions posed for the expert witness in the information paper. Students will use any preferred format, single or double spaced, and must cite when necessary to properly credit a source or support an argument. Citations will be included as endnotes on a second page. Students should generally adhere to Bluebook citation standards.
