Current events assignment

Find a current events news article on health in the US that discusses how the social or commercial environment influences a specific health issue. Apply concepts and ideas from your course readings and activities to answer the following questions in your paper. Write this assignment as a discussion paper, not as a question/answer paper. Use the questions below as a guide and to help you format your paper. This assignment should be no more than two pages, with 1-1.5 spaces between lines, 11 font, and 1-inch margins. The rubric will be used for the evaluation of your assignment.

1. What population, if any, is the focus of the article? Why do you think this population is a priority for this health topic? What are the social or political factors being discussed, and how do the authors describe how these factors affect health? – 3 points
2. Apply your readings and argue whether the article does a good job of presenting the issue from the perspective of social or political determinants of health. Incorporate concepts you have learned through class or your readings that provide a perspective about what is influences the health and well-being of the community/population or people who experience the health issue. What factors or determinants are being discussed in the article, and what does the article say about the importance of those things/factors in relation to the health topic? 4 points
3. How does the article shape how the reader thinks about ways to improve the health issue? How does the article influence the way someone thinks about the health issue and how it can be addressed? 3 points
