- Locate the assigned article. The article is available in an announcement posted in preview week and in Week 4. The announcement is titled:
IMPORTANT: Assigned Article for Week 5 Assignment
- Read the required research article then answer each question in your own words on the Critiquing Evidence worksheet template about the study.
- Do not copy and paste information from the article into the worksheet.
- Correctly cite and reference the assigned article when incorporating it to answer questions on the Critiquing Evidence worksheet template. Use complete sentences and do not use quotes or textbooks as references.
- An additional external scholarly source is required in Section 4 (see below). Scholarly sources used to support answers should be no more than five years old and come from the Chamberlain Library.
- Follow rules of grammar, spelling, word usage, and punctuation consistent with formal, scientific writing.
- Abide by Chamberlain Universitys academic integrity policy.
Include the following sections (detailed criteria listed below and in the grading rubric). Answer the questions under each section with explanation and detail.
Section 1: Purpose and Design of the Study

- What is the research design? Is this a quantitative or qualitative study?
- How does the design support the purpose of the study?
Section 2: Sample
- What is the sample size and the population for the study?
- What are the participants key characteristics?
- What sampling technique was used?
Section 3: Data Collection
- What data were collected during the study?
- What data collection technique(s) were used?
- Was this form of data collection reliable and valid?
Section 4: Data Analysis
- What type of data analysis was conducted?
- What have you learned about this form of data analysis?
- Use an external source of evidence to support this discussion and cite appropriately.
Section 5: Limitations and Findings
- What were the limitations of the study, as stated by the authors?
- What were the overall findings?
- What is one interesting detail you learned from reading this study?
Section 6: Application to Practice
- How can you apply these findings to your practice?
- Why is it important for you to read and understand research literature?
- What have you learned from completing the Critiquing Evidence Worksheet?
