Assignment 1: Data Collection Training Reflections
This assignment follows the data collection training and is designed to prepare you for your upcoming
fieldwork in the San Diego Promise Zone.
1. Anticipated Challenges
o What challenges do you expect to encounter while collecting data in the field? Consider
issues such as communication barriers, participant trust, time constraints, safety, language
differences, or sensitive topics.
2. Responding to Challenges
o How might you respond to or manage these challenges professionally and ethically?
o In your response, reference strategies we discussed during training (e.g., rapport-building,
informed consent, flexibility, teamwork).
3. Survey Questions
o Which survey questions do you think will be easier to ask and why?
