For this assignment, you will use data from the table below to calculate murder rates for five cities in the US. For information on how to calculate crime rates as well as the formula to use, please visit the .

  1. Using the information from the table above, calculate the murder rates (per 100,000) for each of the five cities (round up to 2 decimal places for each rate. For example, 50.23).
  • Copy the table into a Word doc and add a column that is titled Murder Rate (see example above). Then enter the murder rate for each city.
  1. Which is the city with the lowest murder rate?
  2. Which is the city with the highest murder rate?
  3. Were you surprised by these results? Why or why not? Explain your answer.

Note – Please include the questions and the table above in addition to your responses within a Word doc. I will deduct 5 points from your assignment if the questions are missing and an additional 5 points if the table is not included.

Grading
