Conducting and Transcribing Your Field tests

This assignment gives you the opportunity to conduct a practice interview using your interview protocol and reflect on what you learn through the process. This field test allows you to identify areas for refinementboth in your questions and in your approach as an interviewer. As a reminder, field test participants may not be included in your dissertation study, and IRB approval is not required for this activity. For this assignment, you will: Conduct one field test interview with an adult (18+) who mirrors your intended study population. Use your finalized interview protocol to conduct the interview. The interview should be conducted using a platform with recording capabilities (e.g., Zoom, Teams). Send your participant the Letter of Information (from Week 3) in advance of the interview. Record and transcribe the interview (See this weeks Readings and Resources). Submit a full transcript of the interview. At the top of the document, include the research question your interview protocol is designed to address. Write a short reflection (250500 words) Document which transcription service or tool you used. Briefly evaluate the accuracy of the tool you selected. You may choose to test different transcription services across the three interviews. Of the completed interviews so far, summarize what your participants shared in response to the interview questions. Identify any suggested or observed changes that would improve your questions or flow. Reflect on what you learned from the experience of conducting the interview and how it may shape your protocol or design. Note: You are expected to complete at least one additional field test in the following week. By the end of the course, you should aim to complete 3 total field tests to strengthen your protocol through iteration and applied learning.
