Comparative Wellness Benchmark and Applied Adaptation This assignment focuses on leadership decision-making and feasibility across multiple wellness domains, beyond mental health alone. Assignment Purpose The purpose of this assignment is to compare wellness initiatives across multiple elite sport organizations and identify evidence-based best practices. Students will examine professional sport organizations and/or specific high-performing NCAA Division I athletic programs, analyze similarities and differences in wellness offerings, and apply selected best practices to a different sport organization using a leadership and feasibility lens. Assignment Overview You will research two to three professional sport organizations or high-ranking NCAA Division I athletic programs known for comprehensive wellness support for athletes, coaches, and staff. You will compare their wellness initiatives, identify best practices, and apply selected strategies to your own sport organization. Section 1: Organizational Wellness Profiles Identify the organizations selected. Type and level of organization Populations served by wellness initiatives How wellness is positioned within the organization List documented wellness initiatives such as mental health services, recovery systems, nutrition support, sleep management, or staff wellness resources. Section 2: Comparative Analysis Compare the wellness initiatives across the selected organizations. Identify practices that are similar across organizations Identify practices that differ Note areas where one organization appears more comprehensive or innovative Section 3: Identification of Best Practices Based on your comparison, identify 35 wellness initiatives you consider best practices. For each, explain why it is effective and what organizational need it addresses. Section 4: Applied Adaptation to a New Organization Identify the organization you are applying these practices to and your leadership role. Should be current organization.
