Graduate-level writing requires a detailed examination of different phenomena and situating them within the context of course concepts. Assignments differ from journals and discussion posts by formulating a broader and more comprehensive argument that offers a new scholarly or methodological perspective. Assignments must be approximately 8-10 pages in length with double-spaced, 12 pt. font, and 1-inch margins. The assignment must be formatted in the APA 7th edition format with a minimum of 10-15 sources that are cited both in-text and on the works cited page.
Prompt: You recently were hired by an organization in a field you currently work in (or hope to work in after completing your graduate program) to write part of an implicit bias training program that will be required for all new and current employees to complete each year. *NOTE: MAKE SURE TO CREATE A NAME FOR THE COMPANY AND ITS SPECIFIC FIELD OF WORK. You are tasked with writing the Combatting Implicit Biases – Effective Interventions sections where you will lay out strategies for employees to become aware of, interrogate, and work to eliminate implicit biases in the workplace. The two sections are:
- Section One – Epistemic Responsibility in Everyday Work. Based on your understanding of epistemic responsibility discussed in Chapter 9 in the textbook, identify and explain 4-5 concrete strategies employees can employ to display this in their day-to-day work in the company. What does it mean – and look like – to display epistemic humility in this company? How can open-mindedness be demonstrated? Make sure to cite a multitude of scholarly sources to strengthen each strategy.
- Section Two – Debiasing Interventions. Based on your understanding of the Six Debiasing Tools outlined in Chapter 12 of the textbook, identify and explain concrete strategies employees can employ to fulfill all six of the tools. Makes sure to contextualize each strategy within the purpose and direction of the company. For example, what does an effective approach mindset look like at the company? How can employees consistently perform it? Make sure to cite a multitude of scholarly sources to strengthen each strategy.
