Continuous improvement of teaching practice requires self-reflection and openness to feedback from other educators.
Allocate at least 3 hours in the field to support this field experience.
Review the lessons you created for this course with your mentor teacher. Select one to implement in your field experience classroom, either to a small group or the entire class. Request that your mentor teacher take notes during the implementation to assist you in self-reflection.
Following your lesson plan implementation, meet with your mentor teacher to discuss your lesson and receive feedback. Your discussion should cover the following:
- How well the overall lesson was presented
- Strengths of the lesson and the presentation
- Areas that could be improved
In a 250-500 word reflection, discuss the lesson and implementation. What do you feel went well? What do you feel you could still improve upon? How will this experience influence your future professional practice?
APA format is not required, but solid academic writing is expected.
