Child development assessment

1. Review the rubric to make sure you understand the criteria for earning your grade. 2. As research and preparation for this paper, you are required to spend time and interact with a child between the ages of six and 13 years old. You must spend at least one hour with the child (this interaction can happen via a virtual meeting), which will allow you to gather the information needed to write an acceptable paper. You will use the information and impressions you get about this child to assess his or her life stage and development. Parents may accompany the child in this interaction. 3. Interviews with immediate family members are not acceptable. 4. The information below serves as a guide for the completion of this paper: a. Critical Thinking and Assessment: i. What was the basis on which you selected the person you chose? ii. Identify and describe your child with regard to his or her life stage and environmental context. iii. What information did you gather as you consider the developmental theories of Piaget, Erikson, and Kohlberg? iv. In what ways does this child seem to demonstrate healthy development (physical, emotional, social, and spiritual) b. Engage Diversity and Difference: i. How, and to what degree, has this child been shaped by his or her culture? How do you know? ii. To what degree is this child like you when you were that age? How is the child different? iii. What biases do you bring to this situation? iv. How would your time spent be different if you selected a person from a different culture/race/region than yours? c. Human Behavior and the Social Environment: i. What influences have shaped (forced) this individuals behavior? ii. Based on what you have observed, in what ways does this person present as someone who is developing normally? iii. What resources are used by the family to maximize healthy development? 5. Your final paper should be five to seven pages long (this does not include the Title page or the reference page) with headings, double-spaced, and follow APA Style(new tab) requirements for format and citations. a. When you have completed the assignment, submit it to your instructor using the Assignment submission page by the end of the workshop.
