Character Connection

Character Connection:

For this assignment, choose any character from ONE of the first three stories (“A&P,” “The Lesson,” “Where Are You Going…?”). Your choice does not have to be the main character; it can be any character from those stories.

In a brief essay of 500 words or more, compare some aspects of that character to those of yourself.

Not every aspect of a character is going to align with your own characteristics; I know, but you should find some similarities.

Three similarities makes for a nice five-paragraphs.

For instance, I might compare myself to Connie from “Where are You Going, Where Have You Been?” As a teen, I was adventurous, vain, and irresponsible.

Or I might compare myself to Sammy from “A&P.” When I was a teenager, I was very bored with my job, spent a lot of time daydreaming, and rejected authority.
