Midterm Case Example

Goal: Create a case example that shows how you would work with a family using the steps of engagement,

assessment, intervention, and evaluation.

You can base your case on:

Your field experience

Your work experience

A made-up (composite) example

What to include in your case example:

1. Summary of the Family and Situation

Briefly describe who is involved and what is happening.

2. Engagement (Competency 6)

Explain how you would build a positive working relationship with the family and others involved.

Example: How would you start the conversation? How would you make them feel comfortable?

3. Assessment (Competency 7)

Write a short assessment using a generalist framework (and any other relevant frameworks).

o Identify the familys needs and strengths

o State the goals you would work on together

4. Intervention Plan (Competency 8)

Describe what steps you would take to help the family reach their goals.

Example: What services, strategies, or actions would you use?

5. Evaluation (Competency 9)

Explain how you would check if your plan worked.

o How would you measure progress?

o How would you know if goals were met
