I am writing a final research paper for my capstone project and these are the required sections:
- Abstract (limit 250 words)
- Introduction
- Statement of the problem
- Purpose of the Study
- Methodology
- Research Questions
- Literature Review (with headings ansd subheadings)
- Conclusion/Findings
- Discussion
- References
I attached a word file of the progress I’ve made so far on the paper. Each section I already have, has been reviewed by the professor and I received some pointers on things that need to be fixed. If you can please make the revisions on my behalf that is greatly appreciated. Feel free to even make some corrections of your own if you think it’ll make the paper sound better.
“Section-by-Section Evaluation and Required Revisions
Title Page
Strengths
- All required elements are present (title, student name, affiliation, course, instructor, date).
- The title is specific, descriptive, and accurately reflects the scope of the paper.
Introduction
Strengths
- Clearly explains single-ventricle physiology and its implications for oxygenation and perfusion.
- Appropriately integrates stage-specific surgical considerations (Norwood, Glenn, Fontan).
- Demonstrates strong use of scholarly sources and maintains an objective tone.
Revisions Needed
- The introduction is slightly compressed and could benefit from one additional paragraph expanding:
- The prevalence or clinical burden of single-ventricle conditions.
- Why postoperative respiratory management is particularly high-risk.
- Improve paragraph transitions to guide the reader from:
- Physiology postoperative vulnerability respiratory therapist relevance.
- Avoid implying conclusions (e.g., best strategies) in the introduction; reserve synthesis for later sections.
Statement of the Problem
Strengths
- Clearly identifies the clinical challenge of balancing pulmonary and systemic blood flow.
- Accurately highlights variability in postoperative respiratory practices.
- Well supported with citations.
Revisions Needed
- Focus the problem statement more narrowly on what is not known or inconsistently applied, rather than describing broad practice variation.
- Break the paragraph into two shorter paragraphs to improve readability.
- Remove any wording that implies solution-based judgment rather than problem identification.
Purpose of the Study
Strengths
- Purpose aligns well with the problem statement.
- Clearly explains the importance of stage-specific respiratory strategies.
- Outcomes of interest are appropriate and clearly defined.
Revisions Needed
- Slightly shorten the section by removing redundancy between purpose and outcomes.
- Replace phrases such as overall goal with more formal academic phrasing (e.g., This review aims to…).
Research Questions
Strengths
- Questions are relevant, clinically grounded, and appropriate in number.
- They align well with postoperative respiratory management and therapist decision-making.
- None are yes/no questions.
Revisions Needed
- Refine wording for consistency and clarity:
- Avoid repeating How can at the start of every question.
- Question 5: correct spelling (efficient) and clarify what specific ventilator measures are referenced.
Methodology
Strengths
- Clearly identifies databases used and keywords searched.
- Inclusion and exclusion criteria are appropriate.
- Timeframe aligns with current evidence standards.
Revisions Needed
- Add numerical clarity:
- Total number of articles retrieved.
- Number screened.
- Final number included.
- Use consistent verb tense (past tense preferred for methodology).
Reference Page
Strengths
- Strong selection of peer-reviewed, relevant, and current sources except one of them.
- References appropriately match in-text citations.
Revisions Needed
- Ensure APA 7 formatting consistency:
- Too much line space between each reference
- Remove month and day for journal articles
- Title should be References, remove the word Page
- Alphabetical order.
- You cannot use URLs that are linked to ChatGPT. These are not verified. (The second one)
APA Formatting (Overall)
Strengths
- Scholarly tone maintained throughout.
- Proper citation style used consistently.
- No prohibited sources included.
Revisions Needed
- Verify:
- Double spacing in all sections. Set before and after paragraph spacing to 0″
