Ill provide instructions on how to access articles and textbook
The Kaplan et al. and Pucker articles address the same basic causal claim. Identify the main variables in this causal claim and draw a simple concept map (i.e., a picture) to illustrate it (See Dyer, Chapter 2 for a refresher on concept maps). Then, conduct a more detailed causal analysis of the Pucker article based on the material presented in Dyer, Chapter 5. Consider, the following:
What are the primary variables of interest?
o What outcome/effect is Pucker especially interested in?
o Compare/contrast Puckers outcome variables of interest (effects) with those in the Kaplan et al. article.
Can you identify potential rival causes or explanations for the phenomena being examined? Are any of the following relevant to this causal relationship: differences between groups, reverse causation, a third factor, or order of occurrence (post hoc ergo propter hoc)?
