First Assessed Component for Introduction to Research (SECU0015) 20% of Total Mark
Students will answer ALL four questions. You must adhere to the individual word limit for each question.
1. Scientific consensus can only ever be temporary. Elaborate on why you do, or do not, agree with this statement. (150 words)
2. Reliability of data is not a guarantee of its validity. Discuss with an example. (150 words)
3. You are asked to study whether CCTV cameras reduce crime rates. What design and data collection method do you use to answer the research question? Explain why is this design/data collection method is advantageous (2 reasons)? (150 words)
4. Using one example, illustrate three potential disadvantages of a classic experimental design? (150 words)
