Using insights from this weeks readings and the theory of paradox, select a current or recent family-related policy issue that has generated political or public disagreement (for example: childcare funding, paid family leave, reproductive rights, foster care reform, or family tax credits).
In a 23 page analysis (or equivalent multimedia presentation), address the following:
- Describe the policy issue. What problem is it trying to solve?
- Identify the key stakeholders and perspectives. What differing values or priorities contribute to division around this issue?
- Apply the theory of paradox. How could a both/and approach (rather than either/or) help bridge divides and foster shared solutions?
- Propose one strategy that could help policymakers or community leaders move the conversation toward collaboration and action.
