Business-level strategies examine how firms compete in a given industry. Firms derive such strategies by executives making decisions about whether their source of competitive advantage is based on price or differentiation and whether their scope of operations targets a broad or narrow market.

Define generic business-level strategy. What are the various ones used? Identify at least FOUR. Please identify examples using two generic business-level strategies in the apparel or food industry (research for your examples). What are the limitations of examining firms in terms of generic strategies? What is the difference between cost leadership and differentiation strategy? In your opinion, which is the most profitable? Why? Does the customer’s income affect which strategy you would use?
