Bio of social class

Follow the writing guidelines that I sent as an announcement. Your biography of poverty/social class must be a minimum of 800 words. If you have more to write, you’re welcome to do so. Write your biography of social class in an essay format and include a creative title. The following are only guidelines/questions to assist with your recollection; no need to answer each question individually. 1. What shaped your understanding of poverty/social class? 2. How young were you when you realized that economic inequality exists? 3. What did you experience/witness? 4. Did you notice/experience social inequality on TV/Hollywood/social media? 5. Did you notice/experience social inequality in school(s) or other public spaces? Many students are embarrassed to use lunch tickets because of what they represent. 6. This is NOT a personal opinion paper about Social Class; simply state the facts of how you came to understand poverty/social class in our society. Avoid statements/opinions that you have to defend, such as “People chose to be poor.” If you make this claim, you must defend it using data and research from credible academic journals. No one wakes up and says, “I enjoy not knowing how I am going to pay my rent.” 7. Minimum, 800-Word count. No maximum. 8. FOLLOW THE WRITING GUIDELINES! Writing Guidelines The following guidelines are designed to advance your voice/writing skills as a college student training for the professional world. Part of attending college includes outgrowing the bad habits developed during high school, as well as refining and enhancing your academic skills. Please consider that the average high school graduate reads at a 7th-grade level. Translation – a small number of high school graduates read at a 12th-grade level, and others at a 3rd-grade level (everyone receives the same diploma regardless of reading level). Finding your voice is ongoing and much more challenging in an online class. Some of you will submit the assignments ONLY to receive a grade, while others of you will do so to develop your voice – make sure that you are clear about your intention. Are you here for the education? Are you here for the degree (a piece of paper)? Are you here for both? Similar to high school, all graduates receive a degree, but not everyone receives an education – your effort makes the difference. Apply the following to ALL of your assignments. If you have any questions, email me or schedule an appointment during office hours. Letter size: 12 Font only Format: Word doc ONLY or PDF for specified assignments – NO HEIC files, I am not able to open. Borders: 1-inch margins only (no need to draw a 1″ border/margin). Single space ONLY. You will lose points for double, triple, or quadruple spacing. I know ALL of the shortcuts to avoid writing a complete paper. Avoid taking shortcuts; it defeats the purpose of attending college. The space in between paragraphs should also be single-spaced. Do NOT include a heading. No need to write your name, a date, do not mention my name or the name of the class – just write and submit your paper. I mention this because some students take up too much space in the heading and only write on 3/4 of the page. EDIT your paper before submitting it. I always had a friend or two who edited and provided constructive feedback – it was helpful and instrumental in my own personal growth. Using Grammarly, ChatGPT, or any other AI tool is NOT editing. First, I will NOT accept a paper that is enhanced with Grammarly, ChatGPT, or any other AI TOOL. If I suspect that you are using Grammarly, ChatGPT, or any other AI tool, you will receive a zero, and I will schedule a meeting for us to discuss during office hours. Second, students who use Grammarly, ChatGPT, or any other AI tool will NOT improve their writing skills and will pay the price when they enter the workforce. It also defeats the purpose of attending college. Essentially, relying on Grammarly or other AI tools is the equivalent of using steroids and defeats the purpose of going through this process. Finally, students who receive a “bad” grade or fail an assignment usually do so because they did not follow the writing guidelines, and or did not answer the writing prompt – stay focused and be sure to answer the prompt. I do not accept rewrites – 99.99 percent of the students who request a rewrite never follow instructions. Follow instructions. College is a marathon, not a race, so do not burn out. Make sure to balance your day and take care of your basic needs, such as good rest, healthy meals, and hydrati
